TAPS Project 2017

The 2nd Annual TAPS Project at UTC is an event designed to honor the Veterans of our armed forces for their service to our country. We are inviting all trumpet players from the greater Chattanooga community to join us on Friday, November 10 at 8:45am for this special event. Trumpet players will be strategically placed in and around the campus of UTC and, beginning at 9:45am, will play "TAPS" as a contagion: the second player beginning once the first payer has arrived at the third statement. As each trumpet player does this, the melody of "TAPS" slowly makes its way around campus, thus engulfing the grounds with the echoing sounds of the trumpet. We hope that all trumpet players: students, professionals, service, veterans, community members, teachers, etc. will join us for this powerful musical event. Groups from schools are welcome to come together and can be placed near one another.

What you need:

  • A copy of our official version of TAPS (preferably memorized, but not required)
  • B-flat Trumpet (if using a C, you must transpose the music to the correct key)
  • Professional Attire appropriate for such an honored occasion
  • Raincoat or Umbrella in case of some weather
